Spring has sprung…

Posted on
Today marks the first official day of Spring! Maybe it has something to do with age, but the seasons have a much bigger impact on me today than they did when I was a kid.  I can’t help but feel excited! Staring at the partially bloomed daffodils on my desk, sipping my morning coffee, I have a real appreciation for the beginning of spring– renewal, reawakening, and reflection. Naturally, only in hindsight, am I able to appreciate the highs and lows the business has seen over the last 12 months. Starting a business is hard work! To all you Entrepreneurs out there, I salute you. My Mom always told me, “Honey, you’re a great number two gal, you can provide endless support to your boss because you don’t like to take on the risks associated with starting your own gig” And she’s right! That said, when you’re trying to grow any small business… you reap what you sow. One of my favorite professors in college wrote this quote on the whiteboard the first day of class, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!” I’m not sure where the quote came from but I do know that it has driven me during many uncertain times in my adult life and I hope it will do the same for you. I’d like to take a minute this morning to reflect back on how far TAN IN THE RAW has come. Seeing the growth brings a smile to my face. There are so many positive things happening for the Company, things that were a mere pipe dream at this time last year. As we get ready to launch our first Catalog, I must force myself to take a second to recognize that we have gone from a line sheet with three products to an entire (beautiful) ten page look book.  Both she and I probably wouldn’t have put much thought into it if we had not made a conscious decision to slow down (even if it’s only for five minutes to write this post) breathe, and be okay with where we are at today. That said, we have long road ahead of us, but I believe the past twelve months are a testament to our vision, dedication, and team work. TAN IN THE RAW, and the people behind it, will do great things, there is no doubt about it. So, to wrap up my rant, I will leave you with a sneak peak of what you can expect to see from us in the coming months. I would also like to encourage you to spring into spring head first, nurture your creative side, dance, listen to new music, laugh, and embrace change. Make this Spring your greatest adventure yet, because I can guarantee you that the girls at TAN IN THE RAW are not slowing down any time soon.   Solution
